Elder Meeting Minutes for Aug 2

In Attendance:  Tom C., Paul E., Ken R., David H., John D., Mike C., Gregg S., Ron R

Devotions/Prayer:  Ken

·       Sacred Marriage – Gary Thompson (Passage)

·       Christ tempted in the wilderness.  What are we doing to hide Scripture away in our lives?

Approval of Secretary’s Report: 

·      Approved as presented.

Approval of Treasurer’s Report:

·      Approved as presented.

Pastor’s Report: Paul

·       Women’s Ministry in discussions to take on the care of people in the church who are not in Life Groups.

Ministry Team Reports:

 

Education – Tom Carney

·       Paul met with Andy to discuss CE.

·       Discussion needs to be had around of the role of the CE team

o   Paul would like to see a balanced system.

o   Not top down and not bottom up.

·       Meeting to be held in the next couple weeks to discuss the plans

Missions – Mike Curtis


  •  Missions giving has dropped off over the summer.
  • Working out the details of the mission’s conference.

 

Outreach – Gregg Salyers

·       No July Meeting.

 

Facilities – John Dean

 

·       HVAC has been the biggest issue over the past month.  Getting closer to having everything fixed.

 

New Business:

·      Burmese use of building update – Saturdays and Aug 16-20th

o  Update provided. 

 

·      Parking lot security

o  Plan to have a proposal for security cameras at September meeting along with signs for the two entrances.

o  Pastor Paul will follow up with the contact Jason provided for a police patrol of the parking lot.

 

·      Finalize 2011-2012 Budget

o  Budget approved as amended 8-2-2010.

 

·      Plans for Fall 2011 classes

o  Paul shared plans for the fall.

 

·      LifeGroup update

o  Paul shared updates on new hosts.

o  Signups will take place similar to previous years, but a few new points will be shared with people to consider when choosing groups.

 

·      CYBC Proposal

o  Pastor Paul to get more info from Rebecca and setup a follow-up meeting with some of the elders following.

 

·      Tuesday, Sept 13th Date for next elder meeting or Sept 6th?

o  September 13th

 

·      Staff reviews

o  Executed Paul’s review and were informed of Paul’s review of the staff.

Review Actions steps for Next Meeting

·      Develop an Alter Ministry with Elders and others – To be picked up by the new board/Pastor Paul.

·      Research and propose a new security camera system for the church – John Dean

·       Discussion needs to be had around of the role of the CE team – Future Meeting Topic
